David Bridie is one of Australia’s most prolific and respected songwriters and screen composers. A multi-award winning artist, David has produced six studio albums with Not Drowning, Waving, seven more with beloved, recently retired group My Friend the Chocolate Cake, six critically acclaimed solo studio albums, as well as over 100 film and television soundtrack scores.
His screen composition work includes titles such as The Straits, Secret City, Putuparri and the Rainmakers, Remote Area Nurse (APRA Screen Music Award winner for Best Original Soundtrack), In A Savage Land (AACTA Award winner for Best Original Music Score and ARIA award winner for Best Original Soundtrack), The Man Who Sued God (ARIA award winner for Best Original Soundtrack), and Australia’s Lost Impressionist, of which he was awarded Best Music for a Documentary at the 2019 APRA Screen Music Awards.
In 2019, David was awarded the prestigious Australia Council Don Banks award in recognition of his enduring contribution to the Australian arts and cultural landscape.
