David is Artistic Director of the not-for-profit Wantok Musik Foundation which was established in 2006. The label represents Indigenous and world music groups across Oceania with the aim of recording, releasing and promoting Indigenous music and raising the local and international profiles of Indigenous and world music groups.
Over the last decade, David has spent countless hours mentoring, supporting and developing the careers of Indigenous Australian and Melanesian musicians through the Wantok Musik Foundation.
David works tirelessly to ensure that all musical recognition is bestowed upon the Indigenous and Melanesian artists so that they can develop economic independence and career longevity. Correspondingly, the Wantok Musik Foundation seeks to distribute royalties and profits through equitable and culturally appropriate channels.
Through the assistance of the Wantok Foundation, many of the Wantok artists have performed worldwide at festivals such as WOMAD, WOMEX, AWME, Glastonbury Festival, Vancouver Folk Festival and the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics.
